Pablo Pardo is a Venezuelan-born industrial designer and the founder and creative director of Pablo Designs, established in San Francisco in 1993. His practice explores the relationship between light, form and human experience, balancing technical precision with intuition.

Raised in a family of artists and engineers, Pardo graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1986. His early work included product and automotive design for 3M, IDEO, Toylab and Chrysler.

For Pardo, a lamp is a vessel for light. His approach begins with how people experience illumination and the objects that provide it. Technology and materials serve that experience, bringing simplicity, tactility and warmth to everyday use. Forms are distilled to their essential elements, while movement and intuitive controls invite people to shape the light around them.

Permanence and sustainability guide his work, with lasting usefulness as the measure of each design. His aim is to deepen the relationship between people, objects and their surroundings.

His work has earned international design awards, and Piccola, his first production design, is held in SFMOMA’s permanent collection. Today, Pardo leads a collaborative studio of designers, engineers and makers, bringing diverse perspectives together to explore the possibilities of light

"I see the lamp as a vessel for light, its form understood through the simple act of using it."
